The 6th annual Philadelphia Sports Fans Choice Awards Show showcased
the 2006-2007 sports season. Sports legends, team accomplishments
and memorable moments from this year's Philadelphia's sports scene
were highlighted.
We recognized and honored those athletes who have gone above and
beyond the call of duty by giving back to the community and causes
close to their hearts. These athletes who are strong role models
to our children, and who give unselfishly of themselves to those
in need, received The Hometown Hero Award. This year's recipients
included; from the Flyers: Mike Knuble and RJ Umberger, from the
Phillies; Jimmy Rollins, from the 76ers Andre Iguodala, and from
the Soul; Matt Bernstein.
This year's 2007 Rising Star Award went to Mike Richards of the
Flyers. And MVP honors went to Phillies player Jimmy Rollins.
Former Eagles Coach Buddy Ryan was presented with a Lifetime
Achievement Award for his dedication and commitment to his teams
and players throughout his career.
And Souls head coach Bret Munsey was honored with this
years Commitment to Excellence Award for his
outstanding efforts behind the bench.
Stand up comedy by Tim Walkoe rounded out the evening. And all
the net proceeds from the evenings silent auction will once
again benefit the PAL Foundation.
